Reading Assistant - Teacher?

In this dialogue, I cut and paste a long, difficult passage from "Superintelligence" into PPLX and ask for a summary along with some related links.

The summary is worth quoting:

Here is a one paragraph summary of the key points from the text, followed by the full text:Bullet points summarizing key points:
  • There are multiple potential paths to superintelligence, including artificial general intelligence, whole brain emulation, biological cognitive enhancement, brain-computer interfaces, and improvements in networks/organizations.
  • Artificial general intelligence seems the most likely path to lead to true superintelligence, though whole brain emulation also has potential. Biological enhancement could result in significant but likely more limited intelligence gains.
  • The feasibility of one path often increases the chances that other paths may succeed too. Different paths could yield different levels of control and safety, so the trajectory matters.

The original text can be seen in the link above.

There are a few lessons to be learned here.

  • Reading with PPLX "looking over your shoulder" can aid in comprehension
  • PPLX can provide links to related ideas
  • "Help" can be a bit misguided, as in this example, links are about providing a summary, not the content.

A second example is here, regarding the introduction to Racheal Maddow's book "Blowout." It's obvious that PPLX lacks Maddow's famous nack for story telling but you also get the main points along with some interesting links to follow the ideas in the story. One gets a feeling that a writer can use AI as a research assistant, drawing attention to another profession that needs to re-think their profession or look for a new one.

It's a bit troubling to note that the 25 links provided do not include a reference to Maddow's book.
