Zombies - The Process of Assimilation

"Zombie" is a convenient term to use for those who surrender their minds to someone else to do their thinking and make their choices for them. This is the process of "assimilation" - becoming just an organ of some "higher" being. This process effectively adds them to an  army of interchangeable robots in human form.

Zombies who, for some reason, attempt to recover their human reason are quickly disposed of and tossed aside, often missing their heads.

Zombies in the service of "dragons" (the subject of this blog) are particularly dangerous because the dragon has an "alligator mind". It has nothing corresponding to such as compassion that separate humans from other living things. The zombie adds to the ruthless power of the dragon without adding to its intelligence.

It is a tragic fact that people with great talent and intelligence can inflict tremendous damage by virtue of being assimilated. They place their talents at the service of a dragon, which blinds them to everything but the needs of the dragon.

  • Donald Rumsfeld, definitely one of the smartest people in the public eye in the late 20th and early 21st century, was assimilated by the American dragon, along with it's hopes of a "new world order". The result was the catastrophe of the Iraq war, torture as an instrument of policy, hundreds of thousands of innocent people dead and (in the long run) the birth of new dragons such as ISIS. It seems that Rumsfeld never saw himself as originating all this horror - he saw himself as merely serving US policy to the best of his abilities. In other words, Rumsfeld abdicated his personal morality and delegated it to the dragon. Rumsfeld became remarkably unable to handle moral issues. All his energies and creativity served the ruthless and primitive survival instincts of the dragon he served.
  • Alan Greenspan, admired by successive US administrations as a genius, and handed great power over the world's economy as a result, "sold his soul" to the "market" -- one of the biggest and most dangerous dragons of modern times. Greenspan used his talents to convince everyone else (or crush unbelievers)  that the Market should be left alone - that it would "naturally" solve its own problems. The result was the crash of 2008, resulting in the disappearance of 40% of the world's wealth. However, he was right about one thing -- the dragon emerged unscathed and healthier than ever. It was saved at fantastic public expense, basically by offloading all the risks to the taxpayers of the world. Ironically, Greenspan himself was stunned by all this -- briefly coming to his senses, looking around and seeing how utterly wrong he had been. Even then, he saw the problem as being wrong about the system, not about the loss of his "soul" to the dragon.
America and the international Financial Market are classic examples of big, nasty dragons that threaten the welfare of ordinary people in small and big ways every day everywhere. Rumsfeld and Greenspan are classic examples of the very best minds we have that could have been put to work on the real problems that we all face. The problem is not that these minds are turned to "evil" or somehow these people are "sinful". The problem is that these minds are assimilated. This is just one aspect of the evil of assimilation. For ordinary people the problem is much closer to home: for them, the problem is often a choice between becoming industrial machinery (getting a "job") - or starving. For millions around the world, the problem is even worse -- they are being slaughtered like bugs crushed in the mud as dragons battle each other in their mindless struggle for survival.
