There is an "essential" analogy between the mind and what your mind makes of its surroundings. Sometimes it's best to understand the hopeless mess in your head by looking around the hopeless mess of your house.  If your home is a jumble of randomly-stored crap you can't bring yourself to throw away, perhaps your mind is no different. You can sort things out in either world by simply going through the mess and putting things where they belong. It can be exhausting in real life, but hey we have a lot of time these days!

Do you have junk that has not seen the light of day in 30 years? Is somebody else in charge of organizing your home so you can never find a damn thing?

Think about it.

Perhaps you need to escape the house altogether. There are so many wonderful ways to do this. Sometimes we just need to forget the mess and catch our breath.

She will be 105 in September. She struggles to recognize her four children, let alone her countless grandchildren. Today, she said, "Nobody told me how to die." She has always wanted to die in her own home, an oversized place that has always had room for an endless parade of visitors. She has always been very "social." Although she struggles to remember the old friends dropping by, she chats happily "on automatic." There are a lot of relatives.
